Hey Sixth Graders!
I don't know about you, but I am sure getting bored! I miss seeing all of you in school, and I'm looking forward to this strange situation being over so that we can get back to making music together.
In the meantime, I hope you're able to practice your instruments at home. Keep making progress forward in the method books!
If you've got access to a computer, a really great resource is SmartMusic. Just go to https://www.smartmusic.com/
They've made this free until the end of June since so many kids are out of school, which is awesome! You can create an account and it will help you play along with the exercises in your book. It will even tell you which mistakes you made AND how to fix them. For example, if you play F natural instead of F sharp, it will light that note up in red and even give you a picture of what the fingering should look like. Isn't that cool? It's almost like having me sitting next to you in lessons, minus the hilarious jokes. :)
I'll be in touch with all of you next week, but I wanted to just encourage you to keep working hard and say that I miss you all and we'll be back together soon!

Veteran's Day Performance
The sixth grade bands and orchestra will be combining our talents for a one-of-a-kind Veteran’s Day performance! We will perform Fanfare and Fireworks together as part of our school Veteran’s Day assembly which will be held at 10:30am on Friday, November 8. While I understand it’s difficult for many parents to attend an assembly during the school day, it is open to the public if you should choose to attend. I’ll try to get a video of the performance, so if you’re unable to attend and would like to see it you can check back here after the performance time.

Marching Band Performance - HOMECOMING!
The sixth graders are very excited to perform for you this
Friday as part of our Homecoming Football Game! The 6th Grade
Marching Band will perform at 6:30pm before the football game.
Warm ups will begin at 6:00 at the high school. Please have students there
on time as the schedule for game day is very tight. Students should wear BV
Spirit Wear- anything red or black is fine. ALL students must wear tennis shoes
for marching. As a reminder, this is a graded performance. Immediately
following our performance, students will be released to their parents. If you
plan to stay for the game, please make arrangements for where to put your
child’s instrument. There is NOT a secure location to store instruments during
the game. Students who do want to stay for the game may sit with a parent
or in the BVIS student section. Students are not required to attend the game.
Students performing will be admitted free to the game,
but parents and spectators will have to purchase admission to the game even if
you don’t plan to stay for the whole game. Activity Passes are accepted.
We will travel to the High School to rehearse during the day
on Friday. This will be our only rehearsal opportunity at the field, and I will
be showing them important locations for that evening’s performance at that
rehearsal. If you have not already completed your student’s verification,
please do so ASAP so that they can travel with us.
